PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Cook Children’s Medical Center – Prosper was the first greenfield satellite hospital for Cook Children’s. A year after opening its doors, the need arose for a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Approximately 9,800 SF of shell space was finished out to create the 10-bed unit. A nurse station and ancillary patient care support were created with new offices, therapy rooms and separate staff and family lounges.

For the Prosper PICU project, we commissioned the mechanical terminal units, pressure monitor for critical care spaces and a new exhaust fan. On the electrical systems the
scope included lighting controls and circuit verification. All associated fire alarm initiation devices, horns and strobes were tested for functionality. Plumbing fixtures were tested for domestic hot water and reviewed for installation issues. Medical gas alarms were tested to ensure proper operation. Lastly, the nurse call system and a pneumatic tube station were exercised to ensure the owner furnished equipment met
their requirements.
